Amira started her career in the fitness industry back in 1994 as a group exercise instructor teaching while pursuing her self-designed Bachelor's with an emphasis on Exercise Science at UMASS in Amherst, MA (where she's also originally from!). That's where she also fell in love with strength training. Although she started strength training in college she didn't begin competing in bodybuilding until she turned 35 where she won her first show as an amateur! After successfully competing in her 4th show, she won overall and is now an IFBB Bikini Pro!
Amira is a NASM Personal Trainer and is a faculty member for Evidence Based Fitness Academy (EBFA).
Besides her natural love for movement, Amira is a certified Holistic Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach and has also studied functional and sports nutrition through different organizations in addition to taking advanced courses while at UMASS.
FAVORITE MITOXCELL RECIPE
6 scoops whey protein powder
60 grams sprouted rice flour
1/2 teaspoon Himalayan salt
8 Tablespoons raw unsalted almond butter
5 teaspoons raw cacao powder (I used MitoXcell)
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (I used Almond Breeze)
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cacao nibs (I used Navita Naturals)
1 teaspoon vanilla bean extract
3 additional teaspoons of MitoXcell to dust the balls before putting in freezer
Mix all of the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add the almond butter, almond milk and vanilla bean extract. I mixed with a big spoon and muscle until I achieved the consistency of cookie dough.
Scoop out enough of the dough to make one ball slightly smaller than a golf ball. Shape it into a ball and then roll in the MitoXcell for dusting. After dusting the ball, set it on a small cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Continue until all the dough is rolled into balls. Pop the cookie sheet or tray(s) in the freezer. When it's time to eat, let it that for about 5 minutes to soften before biting into it!
This amount of ingredients makes 18 balls. 1 serving (3 balls) = ~310 calories, ~14.5 grams fat, ~21.3 grams carb, ~29.1 grams protein
